CONNECTIONS

The Small Groups Ministry of Bethel

Connecting together, connecting with God

What is a small group?  It’s pretty much just like it sounds – a smaller group of people that get together on a regular basis to do life together – to connect.

There are 59 passages in the New Testament that talk about “one another” or “each other.”  For example, Mark 9:50 says “…and be at peace with each other.” John 13:34 says, “A new command I give you: Love one another.  As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

Small Group is where we can learn to do that in community.  Most small groups have an element of Bible Study, whether that is a particular book of the Bible or a topic; an element of fellowship; and an element of service to our community.

There are groups that came together based on stage of life (e.g. in their 20’s and just starting careers and navigating through that; some who have young families; etc.); some who wanted to study the same material; some that are more of a support group (e.g. adoption); and some a based more on location – close to home.

We encourage you to become involved with a small group as soon as possible.  It’s a way to grow in your knowledge and love of God.  It’s a place to care for others and be cared for as well. It’s a place to serve our community – whether that’s helping with a community dinner, creating a float for a parade, visiting the lonely – the list is only limited by imagination.
